![]() The contrast between her relationship with her mom and the one she develops with Jesse’s mom Rose was heartbreaking. She had a lot of growing and self-realizing to do but it all happened in a way and at a pace that was believable. The character growth that Rowen went through in the book was amazing to read. There’s a lot of good/innocent/naïve girl with bad/lost boy romance out there so reading one with a lost girl and a good guy was different. This is one of those books where, even before reading the first page, I was sure I would enjoy it. But then Jesse Walker walks into her life to pick her up at the bus station. Not what Rowen expected or wanted to be doing all summer. ![]() ![]() After just barely graduating from high school, her mom gives her the ultimatum of either not going to her dream of art school or proving she can contribute to society by working at her friend’s ranch for the summer and then she’ll pay for art school. ![]() Rowen Sterling is a girl numbing the pain in her life in all sorts of bad-for-her ways, lots of boys, alcohol, chilly attitude. ![]()
